My life is a dual
existence as a finance professional by day and professional painter by
nights and on weekends. I believe these diverse and seemingly
contradictory worlds provide me with both a platform and a responsibility
to inspire others in their creative pursuits. People are not
singularly dimensional, except by our own choosing and it is never too
late for us to get over ourselves and just let go of self-imposed
limitations. I believe that each of us, regardless of life or career
circumstances, possesses creative energy and unexplored potential that can
be unleashed when we suspend our fears and choose a live of honest
passion.
My own creative journey is an evolution of ever-changing themes which
are inspired by both internal and external observation. My recent works
in acrylic, watercolor and mixed media have moved from mostly descriptive
to more intuitive, a transition which has liberated my creativity and
brought about some of the most honest and satisfying painting I have
ever done. I don't concern myself with epic themes, but rather my
reaction to common issues of life and relationships. I enjoy layering
color and working in nontraditional methods such as painting with my hands
or even paper towels and using the handle end of the brush to create
textures. The essence I seek is the mood or emotional content that my
paintings convey, rather than a perfect rendering or representation of the
subject.
Most recently my work has taken on an added dimension in which I combine
my painting with my secondary passion which is music. In this realm, I
quickly render large scale portraits of music legends in a loose,
representational style, while absorbing and expressing the energy of
accompanying music from either a live band or recordings. Music has
always been integral to my creative process, however I have only recently
begun to publicly express my dual passions in an honest and hopefully
entertaining form.
My work is held in public and private collections in the US and
Canada.
In the past year my work has been exhibited locally, as well as Northern
CA and
Japan.
I am available for workshops, demonstrations and commissions.
