Monotypes

Works in this gallery feature recent monotypes and mixed media with intaglio completed during 2007/ 2008.  Most  are framed and currently  on display for the first time at The People's Gallery, 3643 University Ave. (upstairs), Riverside, CA, September 2008.  Monotypes are one-of-a-kind prints made  from designs created on plexiglass plates.  Inks are applied to a plexiglass plate using a variety of techniques and tools.  The plate is then placed on a press bed with paper and run through the press forcing the ink into the paper.  The works may include multiple printings, reworking of the "ghost" plate and mixed media techniques including chine collé in which collage elements are embedded into the inked plate and attached to the paper during the press run.
